What kind of girl doesn’t like shoes… and what’s even better is when its lots of shoes!! This week our wedding inspiration features a few of the gorgeous pairs of shoes we’ve come across at some recent weddings. Its fantastic to see some brides stepping outside the square and going with coloured shoes that match their wedding colours – they always look great! I wonder what fashion will bring to this season?

Something a little different for a blog post today, some inspiration perhaps for some of our upcoming brides. With not a lot of weddings going on in Winter, our blog fills up with portraits instead – so to keep the wedding theme going – here is a selection of some of the many gorgeous bouquets and flowers we came across in the last few seasons. Perhaps you’re looking for ideas for your flowers, or just love anything wedding related. We saw a range of different styles and colours, although most stuck with the classical white or pale pinks. Stacey – Maternity Portraits

Stacey, Dave & Jack travelled up from Matamata today for some lovely maternity portraits. I last saw this beautiful family back in January for some family portraits and it was great to see Jack again and see how much he’s grown! Last time it was all about him – but this time they’re expecting a new baby brother or sister for Jack. Stacey isnt due for another couple of months, but tight schedules meant that we had to schedule in her session just a bit earlier. We had a lot of fun trying some different looks while Dave kept Jack occupied with toys and blocks. Jack did very well to last almost to the end of the session before he had enough! I can’t wait to meet their new babe in October/November for some newborn cuddles and photos. Here’s a few images of the beautiful Stacey Enjoy!

Esera & Lorna’s Island Wedding

We’ll admit it, we’ve been quite excited about this wedding for a few months now and it was well worth the wait. The perfect time of year for an island getaway – we definately weren’t sad that we missed out on all the rain and cold in Auckland!! Esera & Lorna’s beautiful wedding took place at Sa’Moana Resort on the island of Upolo in Samoa. Esera is from Samoa, and it was great to gain an insight into his culture along with Lorna’s family and many guests that had travelled far and wide (including ourselves!) to share in their special day.

Sa’Moana was the perfect location and we were spoilt for choice with photo locations, ranging from the volcanic rock, to sand amongst coconut palms, and eventually heading out the back of the resort to a tropical Japanese type garden. Throughout the wedding and celebrations we were treated to a number of Samoan traditions which was great. A huge thank you to Esera & Lorna for allowing us to share in their day and the opportunity to travel with them (even on the same flight out!) It was our first time to Samoa and we had a whole lot of fun. We took the opportunity for some much needed R&R at Sinalei Reef Resort and and to finish our week with their gorgeous wedding really was special. We had a hard time narrowing it down for the blog – but here is a taste of Samoa! Enjoy!

The first image is the beautiful beach in front of Sa’Moana at low tide. Unfortunately the tide was fully in during & after the wedding and we couldn’t get down in between the rocks, but I’ve included this image to set the scene a bit

Jameson – Newborn Portraits

LIttle Jameson made his entrance into the world earlier than expected, and he’s such a cute wee man. Tiny hands and fingers and tiny facial features that were trying oh so hard to focus on everything around him. Jameson was a trooper and tried his hardest to stay awake for our shoot. He was happy to have his creature comforts such as his dummy and tv on in the background too! Here’s a few favourites from his session. Enjoy!

Avah – Newborn Portraits

My second newborn shoot for the day was of gorgeous wee Avah. Avah is the first baby for Toni & Doug who you will see feature on our blog next year when we get to photograph their beautiful wedding too! Avah is just 11 days old, but was so wonderfully alert! We got a few moments every time she settled to get some quick shots before she was wide awake again. Just too cute! Totally love her possum skin booties too. Check out the last pic and see what a strong little girl she is. She’s going to keep mum and dad on their toes I’m sure! Enjoy

Jayda – Toddler Portraits

Another gorgeous girl came for photos today – little Jayda. We headed down to Cockle Bay beach seeing as the weather was looking great and made the most of the sunshine while it lasted. Jayda was quite shy at first and it took her a little while to warm up to the idea of photos and cameras, but after a bit of perseverance she slowly came around. But she wasn’t going to let me have it easy – so I had to work for a few smiles. Her trusty friend Winnie the Pooh was there the whole way! It was fun afternoon at the beach – and it was good to be back shooting outside for a short while. Here’s a few to enjoy!

Joshua turns one!

I was excited to catch up with Deane & Jaco and little Joshua who has now turned one! Just under a year ago we got some gorgeous images of Joshua as a newborn and it was great to see how much he’s changed and grown since then. He’s such a little dude. He made us work to get any smiles, but on the rare occasion that one popped out – we made sure we grabbed it quick! This is such a beautiful little family and its a pleasure to share in their journey together. Enjoy

Horomia Family Portraits

I love it when you ask “when was the last time you had family photos taken” and the response is usually along the lines of “when we got married – xx years ago”. That makes me want to create beautiful images for families even more, knowing that it has been a while. The wonderful Horomia family came to see me today for a photo session organised by their daughter Kylie and it had been a number of years since their last photo. Kylie had also arranged for hair and makeup to be done by the fabulous Ashlee at Beautified and she did a great job. The photo session was full of fun and laughter, which was great to see, and hopefully it helped to break the ice a bit too. It especially works great for those that don’t like having their photo taken. We mixed it up a bit with a few shots in the studio and then a couple outside as well. Kylie it was an absolute pleasure to photograph you and your family. It was loads of fun and you guys all looked great! Here’s a couple of sneak previews. Enjoy!

Zahn & Tracey – Engagement Portraits

On a gorgeous winter’s afternoon we headed into the Auckland Domain for Zahn & Tracey’s engagement portraits. There was a cool breeze, but the sunshine was a perfect addition. The golden light & the golden hour – I love photographing late afternoons in Winter. It doesnt happen all too often thanks to Auckland being so unpredictable – but we took full advantage of it today! Zahn & Tracey were great fun to photograph. Natural smiles and laughter made our jobs all that much easier. They are both so clearly in love and it was lovely to see.
